Painting Class

Last month I decided to have Jo Merli, a friend of mine, have a small painting class at my house. Joe taught us some fabulous techniques to use with acrylic paints. I'm excited because I have never been able to properly do landscape paintings in the past. My daughters Capri and Tatum joined in on the fun, and this was the end result. Capri is 9 yrs old and Tatum is 14. I wont tell you my age. :)
This is Capri and her painting.

Good vs. Evil

Im feeling a bit weird today. I am mad at my back and I feel my youth slipping away. I guess its ok to have one of these days once in awhile. Right? I want to be sitting in my tree tweeting with a bird instead of the little evil man wrapping himself up in my bones. I'll feel better tomorrow.

Glass Frit

Shan and I are getting ready for another Glassblowing session. Can't wait. We love to use bright colors that make people happy. This picture is an example of what we use for color in each of our pieces. We use Kuglar bar, and chop each piece really small. Bar versus powder color is more vibrant and solid. Powders tend to be more translucent. Just a quick lesson on glass color for ya.

Eight Legs

I painted this a few years ago for a kids party. "Pin the tentacle on the octopus". Right now I wish I had a few extra tentacles to get things done in my house. I have been laid up in bed for 4 days because my back went out. I could just lay in my bed and pay bills, dust the room, clean the bathroom, wash the windows , fold laundry, vacuum all at the same time. Wouldn't that be cool?

Bahama Mama Watercolor

Bahama mama was a woman who braided hair on a beach that we stayed at in the Bahamas a few years ago. She braided my daughters and my hair amazingly fast. We had so much fun with her that day and I even painted her this little watercolor postcard to keep. Summers going by way to fast this year. Yikes. Its almost time to go back to school for my kiddies.

Sunset in Rosarito

I had a very peaceful 4 days visiting my parents in Primo Tapia Mexico near Rosarito. They moved into a community called Mission Viejo. Inspite of the many warnings that the US gives about crossing the border, I find that if you scare yourself and listen to all the media, you are missing out on a sweet gem in Mexico. Living close to LA, there are many many crimes that happen everyday and don't get as much hype as Mexico does. Yes there is danger in Mexico, but isn't it dangerous just about everywhere? Be smart, and stay away from bars, clubs, drugs and you will be just fine.

Lazy days ahead

Its been so hot here, I am looking forward to my little Mexico trip starting tomorrow. I dragged this little watercolor postcard out that I painted 2 summers ago in the Grand Bahamas. Makes me want to go back. The dark spot to the left in the ocean was a great little snorkling spot that my girls and I could swim to everyday. Have a lazy day on me.
