Cold, Freezing, Dana Point

Last weekend, my family and I went to Dana Point, CA for a little getaway surf weekend. I am not a surfer, but I was excited to spend my weekend on the beach painting. However, it was sooooooo cold that I really wasn't that inspired to paint.  I struggled for a bit, and I must say I am not happy with this painting.  I must also admit that I usually only like to post my best drawings or paintings, but I think that as an artist, most of us deal with only so so work on occasion. Therefore I want to post this and maybe I will learn something from it, like not expecting perfectionism from myself with every piece of artwork.

Does this even make sense?.....hmmmm.

Sun came out briefly on this shot.

Painting Class

Last month I decided to have Jo Merli, a friend of mine, have a small painting class at my house. Joe taught us some fabulous techniques to use with acrylic paints. I'm excited because I have never been able to properly do landscape paintings in the past. My daughters Capri and Tatum joined in on the fun, and this was the end result. Capri is 9 yrs old and Tatum is 14. I wont tell you my age. :)

Lazy days ahead

Its been so hot here, I am looking forward to my little Mexico trip starting tomorrow. I dragged this little watercolor postcard out that I painted 2 summers ago in the Grand Bahamas. Makes me want to go back. The dark spot to the left in the ocean was a great little snorkling spot that my girls and I could swim to everyday. Have a lazy day on me.
