This project was a collage, and I choose pictures that had to do with sea creatures. I then painted onto a very large canvas in oil paints. I learned a lot about myself through this painting. Patience is a virtue for sure. Many hrs spent on this. I don't think I will do this again in the future, unless of course its a commission.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2308022263682429728.post-78615412669168068202010-10-28T11:21:00.000-07:002010-10-28T11:21:18.373-07:00Super Skinny Fries Oil Painting by Jennydraws<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gTOTeg4ZSw/TMm9bSGST7I/AAAAAAAACaQ/fBDKi56TYy8/s1600/IMG_2238.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gTOTeg4ZSw/TMm9bSGST7I/AAAAAAAACaQ/fBDKi56TYy8/s320/IMG_2238.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">Im trying something new. Oil paints. They are super fun, buttery and creamy and vibrant. I love them. This is an analogous painting, meaning using 3 colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. I used shades of alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, and purple. I thought this appropriate for the theme of this painting. Americas fascination with being thin and yet eating fast food at the same time. Notice the super sized diet pills in the left and corner.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2308022263682429728.post-7314046770836686982010-09-15T19:47:00.000-07:002010-09-15T19:47:04.131-07:00<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gTOTeg4ZSw/TJGErwmggfI/AAAAAAAACZ4/L7peInF_gFE/s1600/IMG_2172.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_5gTOTeg4ZSw/TJGErwmggfI/AAAAAAAACZ4/L7peInF_gFE/s400/IMG_2172.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Today I finished up this little painting. I have been experimenting with colored pencils and oil paints. I found product that I love called Liquin Original from Windsor & Newton. It smooths out the colored pencil and oil paints, and dries the oils pretty quickly. Down below are a few photos that I saw on a blog a couple of weeks ago. For the life of me I can't find out who posted these pictures below. If anyone remembers who these pictures belong to can you let me know? I thought I would use them as inspiration for "Red Head with a View".</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Last weekend, my family and I went to Dana Point, CA for a little getaway surf weekend. I am not a surfer, but I was excited to spend my weekend on the beach painting. However, it was sooooooo cold that I really wasn't that inspired to paint. I struggled for a bit, and I must say I am not happy with this painting. I must also admit that I usually only like to post my best drawings or paintings, but I think that as an artist, most of us deal with only so so work on occasion. Therefore I want to post this and maybe I will learn something from it, like not expecting perfectionism from myself with every piece of artwork. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Well, Its been awhile since I've posted. I get into a rut, and then I snap out of it. This little 9 x 12 painting was fun to make. I used oil paints which I've always had problems with in the past. I love the brilliance of oil paints though, and I would love to master them better.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2308022263682429728.post-78909526229223939402010-02-12T17:01:00.000-08:002010-02-12T17:01:28.545-08:00Piano Day TodayHere is a quick oil painting on paper today. Usually I am a very tight painter, but i would like to change my style up a bit. This was my first attempt at it. I must say I was nervous. I need lots more practice at it. I found an awesome watercolorist on YouTube. Check him out at: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hufRxne3aQ">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hufRxne3aQ</a>. I just love this mans work.
