Frog goes for a ride

I drew this picture about 5 years ago for a frog story that I had in mind. I never did get around to finishing that story, and now that I look at the pictures there are many things that I would like to fix, but for now I think that posting them is fun. I will post a few more of the pages in the coming days. I am to busy working on another story at the moment to give this one any thought. Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend.

A day with Arline Fisch

Yesterday I went to the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park in San Diego.  I went with a really good friend of mine for a few hours. Camile (my friend) who works with wire metals and crochet needles; makes crochet jewelery.  She insisted that I come and see Arline Fisch's work.  I must admit, I had never heard of Arline Fisch and was a little sceptical about seeing a "crochet artist".  I was envisioning really big crochet blankets and benie hats hanging from the ceiling.  When we walked into the grande foyer and saw dangling from the ceiling: MY FAVORITE SEA CREATURES, JELLYFISH, I knew instantly that I was going to like Arline Fisch's work.  Check out a few photos from her show below.

I am a glass artist, and seeing the colors that Arline uses in her pieces was very inspiring to me.  The time and work that she puts into each piece must be outstanding.  Her show officialy opens here in San Diego on October 22, 2009 at the Mingei Museum.  Her work will be properly lighted then.  I can't wait to go back and see what the jellyfish will look like when they are all lit up.

Here is another example of the houses that I have been illustrating for the past few weeks.  This one is my first commision.  I hope this family will like it. :)

Watercolor House

I've been painting this picture this week for a neighbor up the street from where I live. Last week, I thought I would make a flyer of my work for my neighborhood, and promote my small business of JennyDraws. I will be offering to draw and paint peoples homes for them.

First I drew my own house, which I have posted here before, and then I went up to my favorite house on the street and I asked the owner if I could use her house on my flyer. I will be giving her this painting for free in exchange for using it as advertising for myself. What do you all think? Is it a good idea. I am still working on the flyer, but I think this is a good start for myself.
