My family and I stayed in beautiful Deer Valley Utah, and I painted this gorgeous house we stayed in.

Rescued a squirrel?
Yes, in Mexico a friend of mine rescued two baby squirrels and raised them for 4 months and then released them. Their names were Pecan and Almond. This watercolor is off my daughter and Pecan.

Whinny
I have not posted in a while. I have been working on my childrens book, and how I wish I could post the pictures, but I cannot. Here is a watercolor I worked on today to put into my portfolio.
My daughters Tatum and Capri are taking horseback riding lessons, and this horses name is Whinny. Isn't she cute?

Capri, Italy
Usually I am a very tight painter, but i would like to change my style up a bit. This was my first attempt at it. I must say I was nervous. I need lots more practice at it. I found an awesome watercolorist on YouTube. Check him out at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hufRxne3aQ. I just love this mans work. His name is Ng Woon Lam.

Frog Story
Here is an updated version of my frog illustration. I've been playing around with Gouche and I like the brightness it gives to the paper.

Watercolor House
I've been painting this picture this week for a neighbor up the street from where I live. Last week, I thought I would make a flyer of my work for my neighborhood, and promote my small business of JennyDraws. I will be offering to draw and paint peoples homes for them.
First I drew my own house, which I have posted here before, and then I went up to my favorite house on the street and I asked the owner if I could use her house on my flyer. I will be giving her this painting for free in exchange for using it as advertising for myself. What do you all think? Is it a good idea. I am still working on the flyer, but I think this is a good start for myself.

Dog n Cat
Yesterday I spent most of my day painting and sketching. Yay. It was fun and relaxing. I must admit I was watching "Gone with the Wind" during my painting session. I love that movie. Anyone else like it as much as I do? This illustration is the first page of my series. Im not sure of what to call it yet. Who knows maybe I will write a story to go along with it too. Next page will be coming soon. I have a question if anyone might like to respond to. When writing a story that you would like to publish, if you blog about it, or put up the illustrations for it on your blog, is it considered published already? Would a publishing house not consider it for publishing? Hope that makes sense.

My House
MY HOUSE
watercolor by JennyDraws
I was thinking I should put up a picture of my house so that you all can see my place that I spend most of my time in. So far in this bad ecomomy my family has been blessed to be able to stay in our place of residence. My heart goes out to all the familys who have lost their homes. Here in California there are numerous beautiful homes with nobody to love and cherish them. So sad. Here are the pictures that I worked from.

Need Water?
Here in Southern California, we are in a deep deep drought. My neighboring city has gone into water rationing, hmmm. So I've been thinking alot about conserving and although I do have a pretty lush tropical garden in my front yard, I've been thinking about planting some succulents lately. These pretty little cacti were potted by my friend George and Jamar. http://georgeogan.blogspot.com/. Cacti or succulents come in so many varieties that you could make a little dessert oasis right here in sunny California. Do you have a favorite cactus plant?
