A day with Arline Fisch

Yesterday I went to the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park in San Diego.  I went with a really good friend of mine for a few hours. Camile (my friend) who works with wire metals and crochet needles; makes crochet jewelery.  She insisted that I come and see Arline Fisch's work.  I must admit, I had never heard of Arline Fisch and was a little sceptical about seeing a "crochet artist".  I was envisioning really big crochet blankets and benie hats hanging from the ceiling.  When we walked into the grande foyer and saw dangling from the ceiling: MY FAVORITE SEA CREATURES, JELLYFISH, I knew instantly that I was going to like Arline Fisch's work.  Check out a few photos from her show below.

I am a glass artist, and seeing the colors that Arline uses in her pieces was very inspiring to me.  The time and work that she puts into each piece must be outstanding.  Her show officialy opens here in San Diego on October 22, 2009 at the Mingei Museum.  Her work will be properly lighted then.  I can't wait to go back and see what the jellyfish will look like when they are all lit up.

Birth of a teapot

This is a picture of my first blown glass teapot I made. My mom actually named it the birth of a teapot, and it resides in her home. My teapots have come along way since that first one and down below is a more recent picture. My friend Shannon and I will be posting up many blown glass items on a new post we will be creating soon. I think we will name our glass blog "Glass Peeps".
